On July 17, 2009 ,
twenty eight students of TYBSc Chemistry accompanied by three
Faculty members visited a Water Treatment Plant, Aquaneer, Mavdi
Plot, Rajkot. Students were taken by College Bus at 9:00 a.m. from
Campus itself.
Aquaneer is a Water Treatment Plant, where water is purified by
various Purification Processes.
After reaching there, we first met Mr.Vinod, Proprietor of the
Plant. He gave us basic information about the Plant and then
directed us towards the Purifying Unit.
Students were divided into two batches. The Chemist of the Plant,
Mr. Manoj showed and explained various stages of Purification in
detail as mentioned below:
• First Input water goes for filteration through sand particles,
where particle impurities are removed.
• On Second filteration stage, the filteration is done through
Carbon, where coloured impurities are removed.
• After that, through High Pressure, the water goes through R.O.
Plant, which consists of three Chambers.
• After the R.O. process, the Output water is collected in a Special
Chamber and impure water is discarded.
• The Product Water then goes through Ozonisation in which the
harmful bacteria are killed.
• After the Ozonisation Process, the Final Product Water is sent to
the Laboratory for various Chemical and Microbiological Tests, which
is mandatory as per the B.I.S (Bureau of Indian Standards).
• Once the laboratory passes this water as Potable Water, then
entire water goes to the Filling Area, where water is filled in
different containers like 20 litre jars, 250ml pouch.
Students were satisfied with the explanation of Chemist. Their
theoretical concept became clearer after visiting the Plant.
Lastly, we met Mr. Vinod, thank him and his staff for their
co-operation. They were also happy with students, who behaved well
and were disciplined throughout the visit. He invited us for a visit
the next year also with afresh batch of students.
